Privacy Policy
Cheapest Beer NYC ("we," "us") is a project by Next Version Ventures. This page explains what information the site uses and who it's shared with. In short: we collect as little as possible.
Your location
When you open the map, your browser may ask permission to share your location. If you allow it, we use your location in your browser to center the map and rank nearby bars by distance. Your location is not sent to our servers and is not stored by us. If you deny permission, the map simply opens on a default view.
Corrections you submit
If you use the "report a correction" feature, we receive what you send us: the bar you're reporting, a category, and your optional note. To prevent abuse and spam, we store a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address (not the address itself) alongside your submission, and apply a rate limit. We use these reports solely to verify and improve the accuracy of our listings.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like most websites, our host automatically processes standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) to serve the site securely and protect against abuse. This is handled by Cloudflare under its own privacy terms.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used โ for example, how many people visit, which features they use (such as switching between the map and list, or tapping "Directions"), and whether they allow location. This helps us improve the site. Analytics data is aggregated and we do not send your precise location, coordinates, or any personal identifiers to Google Analytics.
- Google Analytics may set cookies to measure your visit. You can install Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to opt out.
- For visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, we default to a no-cookie mode (Google Consent Mode), so analytics runs without setting cookies unless consent is given.
- See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google processes this data.
Advertising & cookies
We use Google AdSense to display ads, which helps keep the site free. Details about how Google uses advertising data:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
- For more on how Google uses data when you use our site, see Google's policy.
Other third-party services
To render the map and its styling, your browser loads resources from a few third parties: map tiles and libraries used to draw the interactive map, and web fonts. When your browser requests these files, those providers may receive your IP address as part of the normal request. We don't control and aren't responsible for their privacy practices.
Children
This is a site about alcohol and is intended for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed to children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date above.
