Cheap beer in Upper East Side
The Upper East Side has more surviving cheap bars than its reputation suggests. Second and Third Avenues carry a long run of Irish pubs, sports bars, and neighborhood taverns, and they hold the bottom of this range; the hotel bars near the park and the restaurant bars in the low 60s carry the top. Happy hour is the neighborhood's real advantage: several of these bars run windows that open in the late morning and hold until seven, a few run them all seven days, and at least one adds a late-night window after eleven — a longer and more forgiving pattern than most of Midtown.
