Cheap beer in East Village
The East Village is the densest cheap-beer neighborhood in the city and the one where the old order still holds: McSorley's has been pouring two mugs at a time since long before anyone tracked prices, and a row of Ukrainian and Polish dives on Second Avenue and the numbered streets keep the bottom of the range honest. Walk east toward Avenue C and the rooms get smaller, later, and cheaper; walk west toward Cooper Square and you are paying Manhattan prices for the same lager. Happy hour here is not a weekday-office ritual — a large share of these bars run one seven days a week, and an unusual number carry a second late-night window that opens around 10pm, so the discount is available at midnight as well as at six.
67 priced bars tracked · lowest listed price $2.00 · middle listed price $7.00 · 28 with published happy-hour details. These prices are a starting point, not identical-pour comparisons: a listing may be a can, bottle, or draft. Check the note and source before traveling, especially for a time-limited special.

Cecilia
$6.00
97 St Marks Pl, New York, NY 10009, USA
Cecilia's official drinks menu (image file 'CECILIA WINE COCKTAIL MENU 08 2024', dated Aug 2024) has a dedicated BEER box with four options each showing two prices separated by a bar: Reissdorf Kolsch (Germany Ale) 6|9, Talea 'Al Dente' Italian Pilsner/Brooklyn Lager 7|11, Threes Brewing Table Beer (Brooklyn Saison/Farmhouse) 7|11, and Guinness Draught (Ireland Stout) 7|10. The menu does not label what the two numbers represent (likely smaller pour vs. full pour, mirroring the wine list's glass|bottle format), so the cheapest confirmed standing price is $6 for the Reissdorf Kolsch at its lower listed price. The $9 figure may be the full-pint price for the same beer.
